I'm sure it's all part of the process though.

Shopping!

You know how on Christmas morning, or maybe your birthday, you get that antsy feeling when you have an unopened present? And how the potential of what could possibly be in the little box drives you nuts? Well, imagine if you were that little box. That little box, expertly packaged just for someone else’s pleasure. That little box who only wants to make that particular person happy. That little box that sits there waiting for them to see its value and the fact that it was made just for them. Yea there may be several versions of the gift in stores, but none exactly like this one…not with the same tiny manufacturer’s imperfections, or gift wrapping or DNA or whatever. This little gift, made for a person, sits waiting for a person to just untie the ribbon.

This seems to be the general sentiment this semester – how to deal with the un-recognition? Don’t get me wrong, I’m no stranger to popularity, not with all this cool foreigness I’ve got going on. But it’s a certain kind of attention that seems to be lacking. I think it’s called affection… holding hands, and sharing spaghetti, and moonlit walks and all those l’amour clichés that never did interest me much. However, I may have been contaminated and slowly (little by little still due to my own resistance of course) I’m beginning to manifest these common human emotions, needs and wants. The timing is horrid though since the people here are slow to recognise my worth (and their own for that matter). Besides, while I do believe in putting forth a valiant effort, my pride won’t let me try too hard to open their eyes.

A part of me just wants to blame it on biology: I’m no Spring chicken and I do suppose I’m approaching zee baby making years. Thus, it’s logical that I’d feel the inkling to at least go boyfriend hunting and luckily, this here gift can be returned to the store to be bought once again. One must ensure that it is in good condition though. With that being said, let’s avoid dust and heart break, shall we? Oh and you might want to hold on to your price tag a little longer too. Few things are more annoying than a price-less item in a store.
